Ipswich MP hears plans for charity’s future

Jack Abbott, MP for Ipswich, visited Ormiston Families’ HQ at 333 Felixstowe Road to hear about the charity’s work.

Mr Abbott, who was elected in 2024 and previously served on Suffolk County Council as Labour spokesperson for Children’s Services, met with our Chief Executive, Bruce Leeke on June 5.

Bruce told him about the charity’s exciting plans to reach more children, young people and families across the East of England.

Ormiston Families has been based in the town for more than 45 years, having opened its first family centre there in 1981.

Mr Abbott also talked to staff from our Play Out nursery, which is based at the site. He showed a keen interest in issues including SEND provision.

Bruce said: “It was great to welcome Jack to Ormiston Families and we always want to engage with local politicians as we try and do all we can to support the communities we work in.”
